Stowe Land Trust (SLT) announced today that it has $65,000 left to raise in its 2013 membership campaign.
“Annual membership contributions represent more than 70% of the funding that enables SLT to protect places that are important to our community,” said Heather Furman, SLT’s Executive Director. “Everyone who enjoys nature is encouraged to help us meet our fundraising goal by sending in your membership today.”
Community members are also invited to consider the Pinnacle Society for making a significant investment in conservation. Pinnacle Society members are the foundation of SLT’s ability to conserve land, support local farming and forestry, create and care for recreation trails, and protect fragile ecosystems.
In 2012, SLT protected more than 250 acres of Cady Hill Forest and a dozen acres along the Little River because of support from its members. Once conserved, SLT takes responsibility to protect these lands forever. Membership support is used to maintain the properties owned by SLT like Wiessner Woods, and to work with conservation landowners to ensure their property’s conservation values are protected forever. Membership dollars are also used to work on new conservation projects. SLT is able to provide you with fun and educational outings on conserved lands as a way to learn about your local, natural environment.
SLT has seen an overwhelming response from the community during this year’s membership campaign with three times more new members and 75% of members renewing their support for 2013 already. Join your friends and neighbors and become a member of SLT.
