The Stowe Land Trust (SLT) is pleased to welcome Metzi Anderson as Operations Manager. Metzi will be replacing Erin Bruhns, who is moving to Vancouver, BC after seven years with SLT. Metzi will be managing financial data, overseeing the outreach program and implementing the annual membership appeal. She will also coordinate all office operations.
Metzi, a Stowe native, brings over five years of experience in overseeing the daily operations of two non-profit trade associations and holds a BA in Complex Organizations from Mount Holyoke College.
Caitrin Maloney, Executive Director commented on the transition: “Erin Bruhns did a wonderful job with SLT, and we are sad to see her go. We are fortunately bringing on another exceptional staff member, and are thrilled to welcome Metzi to our team. Between her experience in non-profit management and her passion for Stowe and conservation, she is a perfect fit for the position.”
Metzi’s appreciation for land conservation began at an early age when her family, along with the Town of Stowe, conserved Sterling Falls Gorge for posterity. This interest in caring for the land was cultivated further by spending many summers as a VYCC crew member maintaining hiking and walking trails in Sterling Falls Gorge and in the Moosalamoo region of the Green Mountain National Forest. An avid skier and runner, Metzi enjoys spending time on the beautiful trails on SLT conserved land and the many other trail networks in the surrounding region.
“Having grown up here, it is very exciting for me to be working for the organization that has so greatly contributed to the protection of its natural beauty and resources. Some of my best memories are from the very properties I now have the great honor to help protect,” says Anderson. “I am looking forward to applying my knowledge and experience as I work with the incredibly dedicated and hardworking staff, board members and community members who comprise the Stowe Land Trust.”
Stowe Land Trust is a member-supported, non-profit land conservation organization dedicated to the conservation of scenic, recreational, and productive farm and forest lands for the benefit of the greater Stowe community. Since 1987, SLT has conserved nearly 3,500 acres of land in Stowe, Waterbury and Morrisville, including five properties that SLT owns and manages for recreation. By permanently protecting land, SLT strives to enhance community and ecological values including high quality recreation, scenic views, a rural working landscape, and a local economy supported by the area's natural resources.
