Little River Corridor
This river corridor easement will allow the Little River to re-establish its natural slope and meander pattern. Additionally, it will provide the river access to natural floodplains in order to reduce erosion hazards; provide flood inundation and fluvial erosion hazard mitigation benefits; improve water quality through hydrologic, sediment and nutrient attenuation; and to conserve and enhance aquatic and wildlife habitats and natural processes associated with the protected property.

A river's energy stays within the channel and becomes more powerful if it doesn't have access to its flood plain, and this can lead to devastating floods, wiping out roads and scouring away prime agricultural soils. Mike Kline, VT River Management Scientist
