The restoration of DuMont Meadow has begun! Join us for our second volunteer work day of the season to remove invasive bush honeysuckle from this scenic and valuable meadow. We will be manually removing and cutting back honeysuckle to protect native plants and wildlife.
Join us from 9am-12pm. Park at the Town's stump dump at the end of Adams Mill Road and meet at the trailhead for Alex's Trail. Make sure to wear long pants and bring water, gloves, and loppers and handsaws if you have them. Light refreshments will provided along with work gloves and some tools.
Directions to DuMont Meadow:From the intersection of Route 100 and Route 108 in Stowe, travel south on Route 100 and turn right onto Moscow Road. After the Pizza Joint, turn left onto Adams Mill Road just before crossing the bridge over the Little River. Take the first right to continue on Adams Mill Road. Continue on the dirt track to the left of the last house. Drive through the gate to the clearing on the Town of Stowe's "stump dump" property. Look for the sign at the Alex's Trail trailhead at the far end of the clearing. We will park and gather near the sign, then walk about 1/4 mile along the trail to reach DuMont Meadow and the work site.
